Review

Considering how massively popular the last two GTA games were Rockstar could’ve knocked out any old rubbish as their last GTA game this generation, but despite Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas not being a full sequel (it still uses essentially the same graphics engine as GTA III) it has more new features and ideas than the majority of official follow-ups.

For a start San Andreas itself is not a city but a whole fictional county, containing the San Francisco-esque San Fierro, the Las Vegas style Las Venturra and the Los Angeles inspired Los Santos. You can drive anywhere else you like in the countryside, between making the game four to six times the size of Vice City.

You can also now start up your own gang in the game, recruiting members and claiming territory--you can even build and operate your own casino once you get the necessary moolah. You can’t just sit around and wait for the money to roll in, though--eat too much junk food and your character will grow fat and have to work out at a gym, as well as keep an eye on a new stamina meter.

The list of other additions and refinements are almost endless; above and beyond the usual claims of an improved aiming system for weapons you can now swim, ride bicycles, get your hair cut, take part in random break-ins and robberies... pretty much anything you were ever told not to do as a kid (except the getting a haircut bit). --David Jenkins

...even on my 360, it is one of the few old X-Box titles I still dig out along with Half Life 2 and Big Dave's Mighty Ball Bag Challenge.

    Wrap it upu.
  • Rating 4 stars great game- keeps u busy 4 hours 01/10/2006 Read full review>>
Gta is a must have game for the xbox. The world is huge, there is loadz to do and the storyline is entertaining. The storyline is very long, and some missions are near impossible to complete, which is really annoying if you get stuck on an early level. There are hundreds of different cars, weapons and areas to explore. The graphics are reasonable, but arent in the same league as the rest of the game. Gameplay is quite easy to master and there is a variety of different radio stations, which are all fun to listen to. The game is slightly let down by its 2 player mode, as the camera angle gets confusing and only one person can drive a car at one time.
Overall the game is really good and definately worth buying. (N.B. The game has a lot of swearing and violence in it, but other than that it is really fun)

It's not the violence that makes GTA games, it's the wacky sense of humour, hidden gems (both physically and visually) and sheer scope and scale that has gone into the game. San Andreas is no different.

I'm playing this on my 360 through a VGA cable, and my word does it look sweet! I don't need to tell you what the game entails, that's what magazines and other websites are for, but you just need to know that you need this game if you own an Xbox or a 360.
  • Rating 5 stars WOW amazin but it is not all that bad! 04/07/2006 Read full review>>
Yo when i first bought this game i heard rummors about how bad it was e.g. Rape and drug taking. This is rubbish. The worst thing I have done in the game is hijack an aeroplane and blow up some police cars (which we all want to do). I have had this game from the start for x-box and I have done nothin at all that bad which you can do in a 16+ game. There are missions in the game but are completely optional you can choose when to do them or at all. The missions are there to help u get to diffrent parts of the Island. Most of the time people will be doing the free roam mode which is brillant. You can spawn big fighter Jets and fly about or put a cheat on that makes your cars fly. So in my mind GTA san andreas is not all that bad as what people have made out. If it was up to me I would give this game a 16+ rating.
The media probbly don't like the fact that rockstar has brought a game out that has a free roam mode. So I would let people from 15 or so to play this game it is brillant.

it's amazin u cannot do anyhin bad in it especially raping people doing drugs and being a pimp with all ur prostitutes.
it is not all that bad trust me I got it the first day it came out and still play it and the worst thing i've done is kill 2 cops.
It is suitable for 15+ to be honest.
