Review

From the makers of Mass Effect, Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic, and Baldur's Gate comes an epic tale of violence, lust, and betrayal. The survival of humanity rests in the hands of those chosen by fate. You are a Grey Warden, one of the last of an ancient order of guardians who have defended the lands throughout the centuries. Betrayed by a trusted General in a critical battle, you must hunt down the traitor and bring him to justice.

As you fight your way towards the final confrontation with an evil nemesis, you will face monstrous foes and engage in epic quests to unite the disparate peoples of a world at war. A romance with a seductive shape-shifter may hold the key to victory, or she may be a dangerous diversion from the heart of your mission. To be a leader, you must make ruthless decisions and be willing to sacrifice your friends and loved ones for the greater good of mankind

Game features:

  • A Stunning World to Explore:
  • BioWare's deepest universe to date with over 80 hours of gameplay and more than double the size and scope of Mass Effect
  • Travel throughout dozens of environments and fully immerse yourself in a shattered world that is on the brink of utter annihilation
  • An epic story that is completely shaped and reactive to your play style
  • Complex Moral Choices:
  • Tailor your Dragon Age: Origins experience from the very beginning by choose from six different Origin Stories
  • Decide how to handle complex issues like murder, genocide, betrayal, and the possession/sacrificing of children without the security of a good/bad slider to tell you what to do
  • Full Character Customisation:
  • Sculpt your hero in your own image or fantasy
  • Elaborate character creator allows you to create your own hero unique from anyone else
  • Shape your character's personality and morality based on

The game is the successor Baldur's Gate II deserves, it is really well-designed. Features great graphics (although that is nothing a good RPG needs as much as maybe a shooter would) and a completely new world.
  • Rating 4 stars Not as good as Mass Effect 1 or 2 25/07/2010 Read full review>>
I borrowed this game off my friend, so I didn't know what to expect. The story is reasonably engaging, but not as good as Mass Effect, as is the combat. The turnbased combat takes some time to get used to but you can choose not to use it! Graphically the game isn't the best ever, but you can ignore the graphics and just focus on the game.
    Here are my ratings:
    Characters- 8/10
    Story- 9/10
    Dialogue- 8/10
    Combat- 9/10
    Graphics- 8/10

i absolutel love this game, it is very rare that i am not on it, trying out different tactics and stratergies for the bosses :)
  • Rating 1 stars Jumpy, laggy and extremely slow! 09/07/2010 Read full review>>
I was exited when i bought this game as most people would be. The first time i bought this game it came with liquid and scratch's on the disc, so i sent it back for a new one. when i started to play this game i was exited when creating my character and thinking 'wow what a cool game'...
    Until i started the gameplay...
some of you may not agree with me but i found this game to be very slow. when i considered buying the game i thought, ok there is alot of talking but oh well the action makes up for it, but no, the talking goes on and on and on. when moving around i found the game to be extremely laggy and jumpy in combat and just running around the area.
I have not yet tried it on the ps3 or the xbox and dont plan on it after my experience with boredom from the talking and laggy movement in all places.
Im not to sure if theres any difference on the ps3 or xbox compared to the pc version, its ment to be worse than the pc (i dont see how that could be possible).
The graffics arent as they seem to be, after creating your character and entering the world, you just feel like your back to runescape...literally, and my laptop isnt that bad when it comes to gaming and graffics.

I hope my review has helped you,
    Thankyou.

  • Rating 3 stars Not brilliant, but generally fun 09/07/2010 Read full review>>
Overall not a bad game, especially for the £11 I paid for it. I'd have been a bit miffed if I'd played full price, but first, the good points :
    - The story is quite engaging, with a decent variety of missions
    - The characters are reasonably interesting. Kate Mulgrew and Claudia Black as witches is nothing less than a stroke of casting genius - someone should get a medal for that.
    - Seems to have replayability since your choice of character dictates the initial story.
    - Nice interface, pretty straightforward to control 4 characters at once.
    - A good range of interesting monsters to fight, far more than in Oblivion for example.
    - It has great big dragons.

    The bad points :
    - Combat can be frustratingly difficult and often seems to depend on luck. Sometimes I have to replay fights many times and when I win I'm not sure why. To beat bosses I usually have to put difficulty down to easy. Now I expect dragons to be nigh-on impossible to kill, but not every boss. Maybe I should just change my selection of party memebers...
    - Can be waaay too much combat sometimes, starts to feel like a slog through rather than actually being fun.
    - Graphics engine is abysmall. Looks OK, but needs ridiculous amounts of computing power for what it is. You certainly don't get the gorgeous vistas of Oblivion, yet to play the computer will insist on setting ALL FANS TO MAXIMUM POWER !!
    - Not enough of the smaller dragons. I like dragons, that's why I bought the game. So I'd like some more please.
